Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while offering my takes on anything else that’s happening in the world.
Kicking off this week’s segment, we started with a look at last night’s win over the Chicago Blackhawks and how there were four players named Connor in that game. Obviously, everyone wanted to talk about McDavid and Bedard, but it’s clear that the name Connor was really striking a chord with parents around the late 90s/early 2000s. With that nonsense out of the way, we moved into the Oilers’ eight-game winning streak and how it’s leaving some Oilers fans not knowing how to deal with what’s happening. Sure, the boys have won eight consecutive games, but they also still find themselves a point out of a playoff spot. Would the correct phrasing be that we’re cautiously optimistic? From there, we shifted gears to Jack Campbell and whether or not the Oilers should recall him anytime soon. Personally, I think Calvin Pickard is doing well enough that it doesn’t give them any reason to rush, but it also seems like the team wants to see what they have in the guy after some time away. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a look at Kris Knoblauch’s early success and whether or not the buttons he’s pushing are also leading to Connor McDavid’s resurgence. Is Connor just back to doing Connor things, or does Knobby deserve a little more love? Are both reasons valid?
