Capilano Rehab Center Injury Report – September 22, 2015

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins took a puck off the face during training
camp over the weekend by a clearing attempt made by Cam Talbot. I’m sure
hitting one of our stars in the face is not how Talbot would like to make his
first impression at the Oilers training camp, but accidents happen.
There was a stirring on Twitter for a few hours Saturday afternoon after we heard RNH
left the ice and is not playing in the scrimmage. Obviously I was extremely
happy when we found out that he had nothing but a swollen cheek, but a
small part of me still wonders what Baby Nuge would look like without a couple
of those pearly whites.
Other than that there is not a lot happening on the injury front in Oilersnation. Taylor Hall came out the first preseason game with a cut on his nose from a late hit by Hathaway, and ended up receiving eight stitches. Hall left the game after being hit in the third period and didn’t return. McLellan stated after the game that the organization will not be addressing “minor bumps and bruises” to the media such as Hall’s. If there is a serious injury, GM Peter Chiarelli will speak about it. This is obviously a good move in my opinion. As much as us Oiler fans and the media act like overprotective, worried parents towards our players, they can handle themselves. We don’t need to worry about the little things, they are hockey players.

In other news, Oilersnation took part in its second “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” today. We all had a ton of fun down at Churchill Square, and really appreciate everybody donating and supporting us! The feet are still pretty sore but seem to feel better as the hours pass.  It will forever remain a mystery to me how girls can go to a club and dance for hours with nothing but the tips of their toes touching the ground. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOURSELVES! However, everybody on the Oilersnation team looked surprisingly comfortable strutting along in their heels. I wouldn’t be surprised if Baggedmilk had put some practice hours in last night cause he was looking like a natural.  Although it was windy and gloomy, the weather did hold up in a sense that a load of rain/snow didn’t fall on us. Of course as I’m typing this I can see and feel the sun coming out and heating up the office again, but it could have been worse!
Anyways we just wanted to thank everybody again for helping us out and donating to the great cause. We all had a blast and are looking forward to doing it again next year. Remember that the YWCA is taking donations until the end of the month, so it’s not too late to follow the link and donate!
