The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak on home ice when they host the New Jersey Devils on Friday as -165 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton is coming off a discouraging 5-2 loss to the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues as -140 home chalk on Wednesday, and has now fallen to defeat in six of nine overall outings ahead of Friday night’s game at Rogers Place.

The Oilers’ offense continued to sputter in Wednesday night’s loss to St. Louis despite outshooting the Blues by a 34-25 margin. Once again, it was the duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl that led the Edmonton attack, with the two stars each picking up points on both Oilers’ goals. Both Draisaitl and McDavid enter the weekend among the NHL’s scoring leaders, with McDavid leading the way as a strong +225 favourite at online sports betting sites to claim the Hart Trophy for the second time in his career.
With minimal contributions coming from further down the lineup, Edmonton has averaged just 1.9 goals over its past 10 contests. The lack of scoring punch has made the UNDER a reliable wager in totals betting when the Oilers play, going 4-1-0 in their past five, and 9-4-0 in their past 13. However, with visiting opponents regularly filling the net, averaging 4.25 goals per game over their past four, the OVER has consistently prevailed when the Oilers play at home, and is currently on a 3-1-0 run.
Friday’s contest also marks former Oiler Taylor Hall’s first appearance in Edmonton in over two years. Hall leads the Devils into town as +135 underdogs after dropping a 5-2 decision in Calgary as a +135 wager on Thursday night. That defeat marked New Jersey’s first loss on a five-game road trip, and snapped the club’s brief two-game win streak.
The Devils have endured a disappointing start to the season, opening their schedule with six straight losses including a 4-3 shootout loss to Edmonton as -125 home favourites on October 10. However, New Jersey has shown signs of turning things around with four wins in its past eight outings. The Devils also dominated in their last trip to Edmonton, back in March, recording a 6-3 win as +265 underdogs to sweep the season series.
