The Oilers could be getting some good news for tomorrow’s game against the Penguins as Todd McLellan expects both Leon Draisaitl and Drake Caggiula to return to the lineup.
With the turd pile growing around here, the Oilers desperately need any good news they can get and having Draisaitl and Caggiula back in the lineup would certainly qualify. Despite some better efforts, Edmonton is still losing hockey games due to a lack of scoring and adding two players to the top nine should certainly help. According to Todd McLellan, both players could be available for tomorrow’s game against the Penguins depending on whether or not the team doctors clear them from whatever it is that ails them.
Before we get too excited, there were rumblings last week that the Oilers would have Draisaitl and Caggiula back in the lineup this past Saturday but it obviously didn’t happen. When it comes to injuries like concussions, there are no certainties on timelines and the Oilers would be best served to be patient. For as much luck as the Oilers had last season with health, they seem to be getting the opposite this year with a run of injuries to some key players. All we can hope is that the way is almost over and that the luck starts to turn in our favour.
