Sekera sighting. He was skating this morning with Draisaitl, Caggiula and Benson. Moving well. But only 5 months since surgery. #Oilers

According to Todd McLellan, the Oilers could have some reinforcements coming back to the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Flyers. Fingers crossed.
It goes without saying that the Oilers have had a really bad run throughout the first few weeks of the season. Not only are they losing games, they’re also losing players to injury, a problem that was nearly non-existent a year ago. Unfortunately, injuries happen in contact sports and losing two top nine guys is going to be a big blow no matter which team it is. Fortunately for Edmonton (and even more so for the fans), both Leon Draisaitl and Drake Caggiula could be back in the lineup for Saturday’s matinee in Philly.
If that actually happens, that would be some huge news for this team. Having those two guys back would add both speed and potential offence to a lineup that desperately needs it right now. Scoring goals has been an issue over the past five games and the Oilers need all the help they can get. While Leon and Drake have both been ruled out for tomorrow night’s game against Chicago, it’s almost reassuring to hear that they could be back as early as Saturday.
Obviously, getting these two players back into the lineup won’t guarantee wins but it will certainly help the cause. In the very least, knowing that their injuries are both on day-to-day timelines as opposed to long-term scenarios can only be positive. Right now, Edmonton is stumbling forward on shaky legs and they can use all of the good news they can get.
