Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid wins fourth Art Ross Trophy

It’s official: Connor McDavid has a fourth Art Ross trophy to add to his collection.

Registering a career-high 123 points (44 goals, 79 assists) pushed — the second most of any player in the last 15 years — pushed McDavid to the mark.

He now joins Wayne Gretzky (10x), Gordie Howe (6x), Mario Lemieux (6x), Phil Esposito (5x), Jagr (5x) and Stan Mikita (4x) as the as the seven players to win the Art Ross four times. He also joins Gretzky (6x) and Howe (4x) as the third to win it four times prior to his 26th birthday.

McDavid had points in 63 of the 80 games he played this year while also placing top 10 in the league in: power-play assists (1st; 34), power-play points (1st; 44), assists (2nd; 79), shots on goal (5th; 314) and goals (7th; 44).

His offensive game continues to grow and over the course of his seven seasons in the league. His career point per game pace has now risen to 1.43 — fourth-most all-time behind Gretzky (1.92), Lemieux (1.88) and Mike Bossy (1.50).

Down the stretch, McDavid quickly pushed himself beyond the pack. In his final five games played, he scored a staggering two goals and 13 points leap-frogging him over the likes of a few players. As a whole, his 123-point season saw him score eight more points than both Johnny Gaudreau and Jonathan Huberdeau, who scored 115.

Teammate Leon Draisaitl, meanwhile, scored 110 points tying his career-high — enough for third in the scoring race.
