It’s official! Leon Draisaitl is playing in his 500th NHL game.
He hit the feat in Friday night’s game against the Seattle Kraken.
Up to this point in his career, Draisaitl has scored an impressive 219 goals and 547 points scoring over a point per game in his career. Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers 3rd overall in the 2014 draft, there’s no denying that Draisaitl has become one of the best players on the planet.
In 2019-20, Draisaitl won the Hart, Lester B. Pearson and Art Ross trophies in a 71-game season that saw him score 43 goals and 110 points. That year, he scored 13 more points than teammate Connor McDavid, who placed second in league scoring, and 15 more points than Artemi Panarin and David Pastrnak, who tied for third.
His ceiling was reached that year in terms of points, but the year prior he notched his first 50-goal season scoring that many in 82 games. He was just short of the Rocket Richard trophy, however, as he was one goal back of Alex Ovechkin’s league-leading 51 goals.
This year Draisaitl has been on an absolute tear. He was named the player of the month for November and paces the league in goals with 21 and points with 41.
