The Edmonton Oilers have reassigned defenceman William Lagesson to Kristianstads IK of the HockeyAllsvenskan league.
Lagesson, 24, has started his season with HC Vita Hästen in the same league where he scored three goals and nine points in only 11 games.
It’s been a solid start to the year for the third-year pro. Last year, he spent most of his season with the Bakersfield Condors scoring three-goal and 10 points in 25 games. He also made his NHL debut with the Oilers appearing in eight games while spending an extended period with the Oilers as a seventh defenceman.
In September, Lagesson inked a one-year deal with HC Vita Hasten, so I would be curious to know about why this transfer has happened. Nonetheless, I would expect to see more solid offensive production from Lagesson in Sweden’s second league.
An RFA this last offseason, the Oilers signed Lagesson to a two-year extension earlier this month with a cap hit of $725k.
