Friday Fights: Toughness Reigns Supreme

Hello out there, I’m on the air, it’s Hockey Fights today. This is a weekly feature where we will take a look back at the best tilts of the week that was, a fond look back at the fights that were, and a strong finger wag at the worst fight of the week.
Ask and ye shall receive. Last week I wrote about how little fighting there had been in the league for some pretty egregious take downs of star players. In this, the 18th week of the Friday Fights franchise, we have smashed the ceiling for total week fights with 17 bouts. That brings our total of fights on the season over the predicted average of 300 (well ok, it’s just at it, but hey, small victories).
In this installment we have some of the old guard going at it, a two-second fight and a some general spirited face punching.
Show me the tilts.

No. 3:

Travis Hamonic vs Alex Tuch

Failed to load video.

Two guys who had a job to do. Tuch responded to Hamonic and they just went for it. Love the tap on the behind at the end.

No. 2:

Nicolas Deslauriers vs Brandon Manning

Failed to load video.

Deslauriers just unloads on Manning here. Manning, to his credit does try to get up and defend himself; Deslauriers has none of it.

No. 1:

Dale Weise vs Cody McLeod

Failed to load video.

Two of the “major leaguers” in the hockey fight world. Guys who have been around the website for years. Tossing some big ol’ bombs.

Classic Fight of the Week:

Darcy Hordichuk vs Doug Doull

Finger Wag of the Week:

This is where we normally feature the one fight that probably deserved two minutes for occurring, rather than a major. Or a player that needs to be put on blast

Shayne Gostisbehere vs Pavel Buchnevich

Failed to load video.

In a game that featured three total fights, one of which was our match of the week.. Watch the second highlight of this video. Count the steam boats from when they first engage to when they hit the ice. Anyone go over two steamboats there? I didn’t think so.
Looking a bit like two teenagers in love for the first time, they came for the fight and left early.
If you want to see all the fights from the week, and indeed the season, you have only to visit us over at HockeyFights.com
So that’s the fights that were the fights. What say you citizens of the Nation? Did you like my picks? Did I miss a fight you thought was better or worse? Do you have a suggestion for the classic fight you want to see next week? Hit me up on twitter @TheNationDan or send it in the comments below.
