The new focus for the Edmonton Oilers is 12 — as in 12 consecutive wins. So, let’s have some fun with the number 12.
—  The Oilers have never won 12 consecutive games. It has happened 18 times in NHL history, and only 12 franchises have done it: Boston and Pittsburgh three times, Florida and New Jersey twice while Colorado, Columbus, Chicago, Minnesota, Montreal, Philadelphia, Washington and the New York Islanders have done it once. The most recent lengthy streak was 13 games, last season, by New Jersey.
— Did you know that in English, 12 is the largest number with just one syllable?
— During the Oilers’ current winning streak, 12 different players have scored a goal. Leon Draisaitl has 12 points and is +12.
— Stuart Skinner has only allowed 12 goals during the winning streak. He has a 1.48 GAA and a dazzling .948Sv%.
— The Oilers have gained 12 points on the LA Kings during the streak and are now one back of them with one game in hand. For the first time all season they have a higher P% than LA.
— Under British law, when you reach the age of 12 you can buy a pet on your own.
— Edmonton allowed 50 goals in its first 12 games. Fifty. During their 11-game heater they’ve allowed 19 goals. Quite the difference.
— Twelve men have walked on the moon, but none since Gene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt on December 14th, 1972. Only four of them are alive today: Schmitt and Charles Duke are 88, David Scott is 91 and Buzz Aldrin is 93.
— I still think this is the best song (or at least the catchiest) with the number 12. Who else remembers this Sesame Street beauty?

— Seattle is 9-2-1 in its last 12 games. The Kraken won nine in a row, before losing to the Penguins and Rangers this past Monday and Tuesday. Tonight is the final game of a six-game road trip for the Kraken, and their third game in four nights. Edmonton needs to take advantage of their its advantage. This is Seattle’s fourth game in six days.
— Connor McDavid will try to extend his point streak to 12 games tonight. It would be his second 12-game point streak this season, and eighth time in his career he’s had a point streak of at least 12 games.
— Seattle has 12 players with double-digit assists. Edmonton has 12 players with four or more goals.
— Connor Hellebuyck has the longest consecutive streak of quality starts (positive goals saved above expected) this season at 12 games. Stuart Skinner currently has the longest active streak at nine games. Skinner has played very well for the past two months. He’s been among the top goalies in the NHL.
— Edmonton is 7-2 all-time v. the Kraken. The Oilers have scored 41 goals in nine games and allowed 26. Leon Draisaitl has 17 points in eight games, Evander Kane has six goals and eight points in four career games against the Kraken while McDavid and Zach Hyman each have seven goals in nine games. Edmonton has scored four or more goals in all seven victories.
— The Oilers can tie their franchise record tonight with 10 consecutive games allowing two or fewer goals.
