Risky Business: This isn’t a must-win game for the Oilers, but it might be spiritually

I can’t believe we’re discussing a 1-3-1 start for the Edmonton Oilers in the last week of October. After all of the hype in the summer and the excitement leading into the season, the boys have struggled so badly over the first five games that it’s almost hard to comprehend how we got here. Yet, when you watch the boys play, we’re seeing a team struggle mightily with their fundamentals in all three zones, and it’s led us into a hole that seems to be getting deeper by the day. While there’s no reason to panic just yet, we are getting to a point where it’s fair to feel angry and concerned. And until the Oilers find a way to turn their year around, tension levels will keep rising around these parts, and that’s why it’s incredibly important that the boys find a way to pull out two points in an arena that’s been historically tough on them. With our without Connor McDavid, tonight’s matchup against the Minnesota Wild is one that the Oilers need to figure out.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Minnesota Wild.

Player Prop:

Leon Draisaitl over 3.5 shots at +105. My $5 bet would return $10.25.

Easy Money:

Edmonton Oilers to score a power play goal at -163. My $5 bet would return $8.03.

Risky Business:

Oilers to win and Draisaitl to register 2+ points at +250. My $5 bet would return $17.50.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Draisaitl and Kaprizov both to get 2+ points at +350. My $5 bet would return $22.50.

Last Game

Saturday’s game hurt for multiple reasons, and losing my money in addition to Connor McDavid getting hurt was the rotten cherry on top of the horrible sundae. But in the effort of being transparent, I will always share my losses as well as my wins so here you go.
Here’s what I bet against the Jets:
  • Ryan Nugent-Hopkins over 2.5 shots at +115. ✅
  • Over 63.5 total shots at -118.
  • Leon Draisaitl to register 2+ points at +130. ✅
  • Leon Draisaitl to register a goal and an assist at +240.
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Wild.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
