Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
This 10-game run the Edmonton Oilers are on right now has been so much fun to watch that I simply do not want it to end, and I especially don’t want the Toronto Maple Leafs to be the team that rains on our parade. It’s not that I don’t think the Leafs are a good team — they absolutely are — but the last thing I want to see today is our favourite team ending their streak with a barn full of blue and white. We all know that Rogers Place is going to be half-full of Leafs fans, and while that absolutely creates an amazing atmosphere. having the night not go our way is a nightmare that is best avoided. When it comes to betting on the game, however, the likelihood of this thing being a high-scoring affair has me thinking that there’s an opportunity to win some money, and that’s a tempting opportunity that I will not be passing up.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Player Prop:

Evan Bouchard over 2.5 shots at -118. My $5 bet would return $9.21.

Easy Money:

Over 1.5 total power play goals at -116.  My $5 bet would return $9.34.

Risky Business:

Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews both to score at +240.  My $5 bet would return $17.00.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Rangers, Avalanche, and Jets all to win on the moneyline at +427. My $5 bet would return $21.38.

Last Game

If I’m being honest, I thought that Saturday’s game against the Habs was going to be a bit more lopsided than it was. I also understand that my own personal bias led me to that conclusion, and the last thing any team wants to be is the one that extends a winning streak. So, you have to give Montreal credit for the way they clogged up the middle of the ice and really disrupted the Oilers’ flow. As for my bets, I went too lofty again. The good news is that my two more conservative items basically evened out my evening.
Here’s what I bet against the Habs:
  • Leon Draisaitl over 2.5 shots on goal at -163. ✅
  • Over 62.5 total shots on goal at -116. ✅
  • Connor McDavid to score 2+ goals at +450.
  • Oilers to win and over 5.5 total goals at +100.
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
