For the first time this season, the Edmonton Oilers are on a winning streak.
The Oilers kicked off the Kris Knoblauch era with a 4-1 win over the New York Islanders, highlighted by goals from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl along with an excellent performance in net from Stuart Skinner. Below are the highlights from the game.

The Knoblauch era didn’t get off to an ideal start as Islanders forward Mat Barzal opened the scoring just 40 seconds into the game. Barzal was alone in Edmonton’s zone and wired a one-timer snapshot over Stuart Skinner’s glove side.
The Oilers knotted the score at 1-1 in the latter part of the first period. Leon Draisaitl took a pass at New York’s blueline, drove wide past a defender, and sniped a shot blocker side on Ilya Sorokin.
After a scoreless second frame, the Oilers pulled away in the third. Islanders winger Simon Holmstrom took a tripping penalty a few minutes into the period and Edmonton capitalized on the power play. Draisaitl took a one-timer that missed the net, Connor McDavid tired to bounce the rebound off of Sorokin, and Zach Hyman was there to bury the loose puck.
Not long after that, Islanders defender Ryan Pulock flipped the puck over the glass and Edmonton got another power play. This time, it was McDavid who put the puck in the back of the net, his first goal since the team’s win over Nashville in October.
The Islanders got a power play opportunity late in the third period and pulled their goalie to go six-on-four but Evander Kane scored a shorthanded goal to ice the game at 4-1. Draisaitl stole the puck along the boards in Edmonton’s zone and sent Kane on a partial break that he finished off with his speed.
