Dineen leads all Condor defencemen this season with 43 points in 59 games played and is second on the team in assists with 34. A leader on the team’s defence, the New Jersey native is currently at +1 on the season despite the team’s overall goal difference of -19. He comes into the lineup amid a slew of injuries in Edmonton, including to defencemen Mattias Ekholm and Jake Walman.
The 5’11, 188 lb. defenceman was previously recalled on an emergency basis in early March alongside forward Max Jones, playing one game against the Montreal Canadiens. He registered four shots and 14:56 minutes played in that contest, as the Oilers beat the Canadiens 3-2 in overtime. The 26-year-old defenceman previously had 34 games played with the Arizona Coyotes in the 2021-22 season, with 7 assists across that span.
Olivier Rodrigue made two appearances and one start in his NHL debut after being recalled from the Condors on March 27th following the injury to Stuart Skinner. His first appearance in the big leagues came that night in relief of Calvin Pickard in the team’s tough 6-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken, taking eight shots and conceding one goal through the third period.
The Chicoutimi born netminder got his first start earlier this week as the Oilers fell 3-2 to the Anaheim Ducks. finishing with a .857 SV% in a game that was arguably not very strong from many parts of Edmonton’s roster. With his emergency recall over, he returns to the Condors as they make their final playoff push. Rodrigue has an 18-15-8 record in Bakersfield this season.
Rodrigue’s departure comes as Stuart Skinner is expected to return to the Oilers lineup for Friday night’s match against the San Jose Sharks. Skinner has been out on concussion protocol since taking a hit to the head from Mikko Rantanen in a game against the Dallas Stars. His return will come as welcome news to this depleted Oilers team, which also recently welcomed captain Connor McDavid back to the lineup.
