Typically in Edmonton, the NHL Entry Draft is a major occasion for fans. However, after years of misery, the draft has become irrelevant in Oil Country with the goal now to chase Stanley Cups and not first overall picks.
The Oilers won’t pick on day one after trading their 1st round pick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick. There first pick comes on day two at 63rd overall in the 2nd round. Additionally, they’ll have a pick in 5th, two in the 6th and two in the 7th.
Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will talk about the draft live on Oilersnation Everyday. They’ll go live at noon on the Oilersnation YouTube channel and across the other Oilersnation social media channels. Want your thoughts on the show? Leave your questions, comments and concerns in the Charm Diamond Centres YouTube live chat throughout the program. Tyler and Liam strongly encourage you to interact with them and the other Nation Citizens in the chat.
Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff will join the show today too. He’ll give an update on what is going to happen when free agency opens on July 1st. Frank will give updates on Steven Stamkos, Sam Reinhart and Jake Guentzel as well as the Oilers upcoming unrestricted free agents. Additionally, with the draft coming up later tonight, Tyler and Liam will get Frank’s thoughts on if tonight could get hectic or not.
