Oilersnation Radio Episode 122 – The Panic Button and Brody Schnarr from OwnersBox

It’s a chilly Friday afternoon here in the capital city but we’ll make sure to keep our takes HOT as a means of warming you up. This week, we broke down the rollercoaster first few weeks for the Oilers, tried to pinpoint what’s going on, and spoke to Brody Schnarr from OwnersBox about the world of fantasy hockey.

To kick things off, we jumped into the show with a look at our biggest concerns with the Edmonton Oilers so far. Seeing as they’re starting the year with a 3-6 record, the list was extensive as were our ideas on how to make things better. To a man, everyone on the podcast feels like this team should have more success than they are, but when you’re talking about a 56-game season, they’re running out of time to get themselves going. From there, we looked at how some Oilers fans are getting close to hammering on the panic button and whether or not it’s too soon to feel like the season is lost. Back to analyzing the team, we looked at the Oilers’ special teams and what adjustments need to be made, specifically with the penalty kill that has now allowed a goal against in four straight games. Changing gears, a big part of another NHL season is the start of fantasy hockey leagues, and we were thrilled to welcome Brody Schnarr from OwnersBox to offer up some tips for success in the fantasy hockey arena. Back to the Oilers, we discussed Dave Tippett’s decision to pull Tyson Barrie off the powerplay and whether or not we think he’ll get back there sooner than later. We also looked at whether it’s time to mix up the line combos to try and increase the depth scoring which hasn’t been nearly as effective so far this season.
