Here we are on a Friday afternoon after a big comeback win with a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio to fill your eardrums with all of the Oilers-related news and love that your heart desires. This week, we’re talkin’ offence, McDrai’s playing time, goaltending, and a whole lot more.
To start off this week’s podcast, we jumped in a with a look at last night’s ridiculous comeback win over the @Washington Capitals. With the boys down 3-1 heading into the third, they needed some McMagic to get themselves back in the mix and that’s exactly what happened as both Connor and Leon cranked up the intensity to a point where Washington had no answers for them. Despite their dominance, some folks wonder if McDavid and Draisaitl are playing too much, so I asked the boys for their thoughts on whether or not Tippett needs to reel back their minutes a little bit.
Sticking with @Leon Draisaitl, we looked at Craig Button’s comments from earlier this week when he said that people should stop comparing @Auston Matthews to @Connor McDavid because he’s not even as good as Draisaitl. Obviously, we all had a good chuckle out of Button’s point and while I thought we would discuss the merits of his comment, an argument actually broke out about whether the Leafs even have as many fans as the Canadiens. Weird, I know.
From there, we broke down the Oilers goaltending situation and offered some praise for the work @Mikko Koskinen has done between the pipes so far, and whether or not he can keep this run going. Lastly, I had to come to the defence of @Ryan Nugent-Hopkins whose been taking some shit in the comments section lately for being unable to score. As you’d expect, my defence of Edmonton’s favourite son was passionate.
