Risky Business: Lather, Rinse, Repeat

I don’t know what else to say about the Columbus Blue Jackets aside from reaffirming what we already know — they are shockingly bad. Right in the mix for Connor Bedard, the Blue Jackets are a team that the Oilers should beat more often than not, and I see absolutely no reason why that shouldn’t be the case here in round one of the season series. That said, we all know about the Oilers’ history of playing down to their opponents, and if that happens, we could be in line for a night that’s beyond frustrating. But if the boys can stick to their game plan and just keep doing what they have been over the last couple of weeks then there’s really no reason that we shouldn’t be celebrating a win with (hopefully) a few more dollars in our jeans.

If you’re following along at home, the odds I’ll be using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Blue Jackets:

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins over 2.5 shots at +115. My $5 bet would return $10.75.

Edmonton Oilers to win and Connor McDavid to register 2+ points at -110. My $5 bet would return $9.54.

Oilers to win every period at +450. My $5 bet would return $28.75.

Edmonton to be Columbus by two goals and Seattle over Vancouver on the money line at 2.48. My $5 bet would return $12.40.

I ended up at 2/4 for my bets on Saturday night, but the ones I did hit actually put me ahead on the evening, something you love to see no matter how it works out. Add in the fact that the Oilers also won the hockey game and you’ve got the makings of a fine little evening of sports and gains. You love to see it.
