The Capilano Rehab Injury Report: Everyone’s On Vacation

I’m not saying Mark Fayne is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury, but I’m not NOT saying that either…
For now, instead of acknowledging Fayne’s injury, let’s pretend he’s on “vacation.” Yes, Mark Fayne has gone on vacation for a while, and we don’t know when he’s returning. Saying he’s on vacation sounds better, and we’re trying to turn this karma around so that’s what I’m going with.

Seems like an odd time for Fayne to go on a vacation, right? He finally got into his first game of the season after being scratched for three straight games, plays an extremely solid 2:27 minutes of the first period, tallied one assist, then mysteriously left on vacation. Now that’s just the most Oiler thing I’ve ever heard! How does he get a holiday just by skating across the ice? Unbelievable.
You know who else chose an odd time to go on vacation? Drake Caggiula. He just cracked the Edmonton Oilers starting lineup, straight out of North Dakota, and then he leaves for vacation? It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense, but that’s how the Oilers luck seems to work lately.
We don’t know how long Drake will be gone on vacation, but the initial claim was that he would be gone for a month. In fact, we’ll probably touch base again in a couple weeks, as Drake may decide he’ll want to come back early. Sometimes you just get sick of being away, you know? I just hope he takes it easy on his lower body while he’s away. *winks ferociously*
PS – this will forever be the greatest Drake Caggiula highlight ever.

Brandon Davidson has been the frequent flyer, if you will, for the Oilers. He ALWAYS seems to be travelling the world, going on all these vacations. Right now he’s probably sipping a mojito with his feet in the sand someplace warm and sunny. The worst part about it is that he hasn’t been taking time off on his own, it’s been someone else’s fault. Other players in the NHL are FORCING Davy to go on vacation, and I’m really tired of it.
In the two vacations Davidson has taken this year, both have occured as a result of other players. Thankfully, the high hit Davy took from Tanner Pearson in the preseason got Pearson suspended two games and Davidson was able to bounce back relatively quickly. Unfortunately, during the home opener, the Oilers newest nemesis, Matthew Tkachuk, appeared to slew-foot Davidson after the whistle, putting him on another vacation on a week-to-week basis.
It may be possible that Tkachuk didn’t mean to slew foot Davidson, but as long as the Battle of Alberta is around, I will forever blame Tkachuk, and will always be convinced he did it on purpose. To make matters worse, no penalties/suspensions/exiles were given to Tkachuk for his garbage tactics either.
Iiro Pakarinen and Matt Hendricks are also both on vacation with the need to rest their lower bodies. Are they at one of those spas where the fish eat the dead skin off your feet? Are they getting leg massages someplace? I can only assume so. They both left for their vacay in the preseason, so I can only assume they’ve taken their holiday together. Get well soon, boys! I mean… enjoy yourselves.. on the vacation you’re both on.
If you find yourself on vacation a lot, please contact our good friends at Capilano Rehab Centre or call (780) 466-1104. ✌️
