With the season slowly coming to an end, and with the Oilers playoff hopes going down the drain quickly, I’m surprised we haven’t seen more guys fall out of the lineup due to nagging injuries. This is a good thing in my opinion and I hope everyone can finish up the season strong.
Let’s take a look at the current injuries the Oilers are suffering through.
Jujhar Khaira
Jujhar Khaira has not been the same since he was activated off the Injury Reserve earlier in March. He had suffered an injury to his heel that put him out for a while, and it was rumored to be a stress fracture. I am under the assumption that he is still suffering from that injury, as he has been in and out of the lineup since his return.
Ken Hitchcock has ruled Jujhar day-to-day which makes sense. Khaira’s last game played was a week ago today in Las Vegas. Since then he has missed a few practices and did not play any games this past week. With the season essentially over for the Oilers, would it be best to park Jujhar for the remainder of the season to reduce the risk for further injury? Of course, I don’t know all the details of what’s bothering him, but I’m curious what’s happening behind closed doors regarding his situation.
Jesse Puljujarvi
It looks like Jesse’s rehab has been going well, and his spirits seem high as ever. It was rumored that Puljujarvi was using crutches for a couple of weeks after his surgery, but Twitter is showing me that he’s out and about hanging out with fans again. I’m hopeful that this surgery will do great things for Jesse’s game, and I truly wish he comes out guns blazing next season.
Jesse Puljujarvi is already back in Edmonton walking and meeting fans!
