We had quite a bit of movement on the Injury report this past week. We’ve got an injury return as well as a couple of new additions to the report. Follow me down the injury trail!
Jujhar Khaiara returned to the lineup a couple of games ago, and it was announced that he was suffering a heel injury this whole time. It was rumored he had a lower body stress fracture, so maybe it was in his heel? Either way, it’s nice to see Khaira back, and he’s been playing well since he returned.

Milan Lucic

Milan Lucic missed yesterdays game against the Leafs for undisclosed reasons. For all you haters out there, we are now 0-1 with Milan Lucic NOT in the lineup. Whether you like him or not, you have to admit that Lucic is one durable hockey player. As Jack Michaels mentioned, this was Lucic’s first games missed as an Oiler and just the 11th time he wasn’t in the lineup in the last nine years. Milan is listed as day-to-day so I”m guessing he’s just banged up. We should expect him back later in the week.

Mikko Koskinen

Mikko Koskinen also sat our in last nights game against the Leafs due to an illness. It was a good opportunity for Anthony Stolarz to get his first NHL start, and the Oilers called in a Golden Bears emergency goalie just in case Stolarz got injured. I know how awful it is getting sick very last minute, so this couldn’t have been fun for Mikko. Stolarz played well in relief for him, but unfortunately, we couldn’t get the win anyways. I would expect Koskinen to be back healthy again sometime this week.

Jesse Puljujarvi

Jesse Puljujarvi had successful hip surgery last week and IS ALREADY ON THE BIKE AGAIN. Apparently, after hip surgery, you’re supposed to get back to exercise as soon as you can. Jesse posted the below video on his Instagram account after his surgery and he looks absolutely thrilled. Just look at that massive smile of his! His confidence makes me think he’s going to light it up next year and I’m VERY excited for it. Puljujarvi is expected to make a full recovery during the summer and will show up 100% at Oilers training camp next fall.
