The Capilano Rehab Injury Report: Turkey Medicine

I’ll have you know that there was one game since the last injury report, and we had NO NEW injuries! *round of applause.* There was, however, a pretty significant piece of injury news that came up. It breaks my heart to talk about it, but let’s do it anyways.

Tyler Pitlick

The man they call Lance Pitlick is done for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee. We’ve talked about his story time and time again. It absolutely sucks for him to hit another roadblock in his career, especially when he was thriving. But the thing is, he’s a professional athlete. His work ethic and perseverance is the reason he’s playing in the NHL and we’re not. The kid got a small taste of what marginal success at the NHL level looks like, and you know he’s going to work his butt off day in and day out to get back to the lineup asap. Peter Chiarelli told the world that he’s done for the season, but he said nothing about playoffs.
My prediction for how Pitlick’s injury turns out is with a miraculous return for the beginning of the first round of playoffs. It will take Tyler a few games to get back into the swing of things, but that’s all. Pity then takes the Oilers by the reigns and leads us to the promised land (next to Connor obviously). His story will put a smile on everyone’s faces, as we erupt a statue with his face on it outside of Joey Bell Tower. The end.

Mark Fayne

Hopefully, our slightly used Mark Fayne could help us out in the future whether it’s the trade deadline, expansion draft, or just by coming back to the lineup and shooting some pucks around or something. What do I know? I’m still wasted on turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. Fayne likely isn’t coming back anytime and is soon to hit the 30-day injury mark. He’s got some work to do if he wants to catch up to guys like Iiro Pakarinen and Andrew Ference though. Unfortunately him returning for a small period of time after his initial injury, only to re-injure his groin again, wasn’t very good for his injury day streak. Not committed enough if you ask me.

Darnell Nurse

If anyone’s looking for an ankle donation update, we have no new sponsors. If anyone’s looking for a Darnell Nurse injury update, we also have no news for that. The man will likely be returning in March, which is only a short 29 games away! Alright, that sounds pretty bad. It sounds a little better when you say it using the amount of days, though: – *clears throat* – Darnell Nurse will be returning in a short and quick 70 days! Any better?

Iiro Pakarinen

Iiro Pakarinen sighting! The only Christmas gift I needed this month was to find out whether Iiro is alive or not. Thanks to Pool Party, his giant smile, and his Twitter account, we can now confirm that Pakarinen still walks this earth. We still don’t know when he’ll return from his knee injury, but I can assure you, it will be before the next CBA renewal.

Andrew Ference

Tyler Pitlick probably wept all Christmas break after being announced as being finished for the season. Meanwhile, Andrew Ference pigged out on Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and every chocolate available during his Christmas break. I’m not against this at all… just thought you’d like to know.
