Vote Dylan Holloway for the Hobey Baker Award

Last week, Edmonton Oilers prospect Dylan Holloway was named as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award which is given out annually to the NCAA’s top hockey player. Today, I’m asking you to throw your support behind him as a means of helping him win the award. How? Let me explain.

Holloway, selected by the Oilers at 14th overall in last year’s NHL Entry Draft, has put up an incredible 34 points (11G, 23A) in 22 games with the University of Wisconsin while missing a chunk of games near the start of the season to play for the Canadian World Junior team. The 19-year-old’s 1.55 points/game average was light years from where he was in his rookie campaign (8G, 17A) and tied him for 3rd best in the nation. To put it lightly, Holloway had himself a monster season with the Badgers that is certainly worthy of the Hobey Baker Award nomination and we want to help him win it.

From now until April 1st, voting is open for the Hobey Baker Award and we want to help drive Holloway to the top of the fan vote list. At the time of posting, Holloway is currently sitting in second place with 25.2% of the vote, trailing only Shane Pinto from the University of North Dakota who is currently leading with 41.4% of the vote. While a 16.2% gap may seem like a sizeable lead, I believe that we can make a difference here. I believe that with the Nation behind him, Holloway can close the gap and catch Pinto over the remaining eight days of voting.

So what can we do to help? I’m glad you asked.

From now until April 1st, everyone with a working Internet connection can head to this link and vote once per day for Dylan Holloway. While the fan vote is by no means the sole factor for who wins the Hobey Baker, the criteria page for the award advises that “fan voting can be an important factor in the balloting outcome” and that makes me think we need to get to work. As Oilers fans, we have a deep-seated passion for our prospects — especially ones that can pump points home as Holloway seemingly can — and here is a guy that can definitely use our support.
