Edmonton Oilers prospect Dylan Holloway has been named as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award given to the NCAA’s top hockey player.
Holloway, 19, is tied for fourth in the nation in scoring with 34 points in 22 all the while missing eight games at the start of the season to play for the Canadian World Junior team. His 1.55 points-per-game average ranks third in the nation.
Drafted by the Oilers in the 1st round 14th overall in last years draft, Holloway has had a breakout season at the University of Wisconsin. In his freshman season last year, Holloway scored only eight goals and 17 points in 35 total games so his offensive breakout this year has been nothing short of impressive.
He was also named the national player of the month for February where he equaled his freshman season point total in eight games.
The Badgers are 17-4-1 with Holloway in the lineup this season, showing just how important he’s been to the team.
Teammate Cole Caufield has also been named as one of the 10 finalists for the award.
