Tyler Pitlick and the Oklahoma City Barons had a big night Friday as the offense got rolling in AHL action against the Texas Stars. Elsewhere, Oilers prospects continue their seasons across North America and Europe. Strong performances in junior from Greg Chase, Jackson Houck and Darnell Nurse highlight the week.

Jason Williams has had a significant impact on the team. Tyler Pitlick played on his right wing Friday night and went 1-2-3 (as an example). The other forward making an impact is Finnish winger Iiro Pakarinen, who is on a goal-per-game pace.

Bogdan Yakimov picked up his first AHL point Friday night and had a solid game. Frans Tuohimaa also had a terrific night on Friday, picking up the win for Oklahoma City after Laurent Brossoit had some back issues in warmup.

A splendid week for Greg Chase, Darnell Nurse and Jackson Houck. Oilers have two of those prospects signed and they’ll turn pro fall 2015. I suspect Houck gets signed in due time as well. Marco Roy is running in place, he needs to catch fire.

Evan Campbell—he of not much offense since draft day 2013—is enjoying a strong beginning to his sophomore college season. Joey Laleggia had a big night Friday, he’s an undersized puck mover in the style of Phil Larsen, but he might be better based on boxcars. Interesting follow this winter, as is John McCarron, a big power winger.

BCJHL

Liam Coughlin, Vernon 12GP, 4-4-8 (1-3-4 in 2 games tw)

Coughlin will be off to Vermont next fall, and he enjoyed a strong week with the Vipers in the BCJHL. The only Vermont connection I can recall for the Oilers is Tim Thomas who played his college hockey with the University of Vermont in the early 1990’s (and signed with Edmonton later in the decade).

USHL

William Lagesson, Dubuque 7GP, 0-4-4

He’s having a strange brew season. Lagesson’s scouting report suggests a defensive defender, and yet three of his four assists in Dubuque came on the power play.

EUROPE

The Euro’s had a flat week, with only Roman Horak moving the meter (he scored twice). Slepyshev was extremely quiet, but he’s still on track to have the best season of his career in the KHL. He’s playing 10:32 a night, suspect the Oilers will sign him and bring him over next summer.

Finally, our weekly update on Vladimir Tkachev. He’s currently 8GP, 3-9-12 for the Moncton Wildcats after a two games this week (he went 1-0-1).
