The Edmonton Oilers are still in training camp, the Bakersfield Condors are still flying south and we’re several moons from having the entire hockey universe playing regular-season games. This week we saw several prospects being their seasons and there’s plenty of success among Edmonton’s up and comers.

FILIP BERGLUND

The young righty defender had a big game on Saturday, posting a goal and two assists. He is now 3gp, 1-2-3 on the year and averaging 17:39 a night—almost double his time on ice of one year ago. We’re just getting started and his team is enduring injuries, but Berglund is stepping up and having success.

BOGDAN YAKIMOV

The KHL season starts mid-summer and Bogdan Yakimov has played in 13 games already. Scored his first goal this week (now 1-2-3) and averaging 14:56 a night. He’s 57.8 in the faceoff circle and 19 shots on goal, meaning his 5.3 percent shooting percentage should regress (he’s career 9.9 percent).

STUART SKINNER

Oilers draft pick from this summer impressed in Penticton and he’s off to an outstanding start with Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL. In two starts, he has a 2.55 GAA and .939SP, while facing an average of 41 shots per game. At least he won’t be bored this winter!
