<p>Connor McDavid was two points back of Nikita Kucherov for the points lead coming into <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2024/03/30/game-72-preview-edmonton-oilers-vs-anaheim-ducks-2pm-mt-snw/">Saturday&#8217;s game</a>, and when it only took him 14:15 minutes and a beautiful coast-to-coast goal to cut that lead in half, it felt like it was only a matter of time before he wrestled the lead away. The guy was flying out there.</p>
<p>So, when McDavd added a power play goal at 9:28 of the second period to tie Kucherov with 124 points, I found myself wondering if this would be the last time we&#8217;d say that those two were tied. <p>The Oilers got some bad news early in the game when Brett Kulak took a William Lagesson point shot right to the back of the head. It took Kulak a minute to collect himself on the ice before finally making his way to the bench, and the obvious concern is that he&#8217;s concussed and won&#8217;t be available for some important games down the stretch.</p>
<p>Kulak played only 49 seconds before leaving the game, which was a very obvious tell that whatever is going on isn&#8217;t great news. In a different era of this league, a run like this would put Ekholm in the conversation for the Norris Trophy. That&#8217;s probably not the case here in 2024, so I guess we&#8217;ll just have to scream his name from the mountaintops here at home if everyone else in the league is going to sleep on the fantastic season the guy is having.</p>
