Hello again, friends, and welcome to a brand new episode of Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every Wednesday, I jumped onto the 95.7 Cruz FM airwaves to talk to the boys at The Locker Room about all things Edmonton Oilers. This week, we looked at Mitch Marner’s contract stalemate, Kevin Hayes’ overpay, and what’s to come from the Edmonton Oilers this off-season.
To start off this week’s appearance, we jumped right in with a look at the Oilersnation Open, the annual golf tournament we hold every summer and why you want to get into the mix on that one. From there, we looked at the hilarity that’s going on in Toronto with Mitch Marner’s contract negotiations and how his old man is getting in the media to lobby for more money. Speaking of money, what was up with Philly giving Kevin Hayes $7+ million after what really amounted to a mediocre 2018-19 season? We touch on that horrendous deal a little bit as we try to figure out how the Flyers could land on such an outlandish number. Lastly, reports came out that the salary cap for the 2019-20 season should be around $82 million which is lower than previously expected so I walked through what that means for the Oilers. Are they in trouble before the season even starts? We shall see. Thanks, Pete.
