Better Lait Than Never: Jesse Puljujarvi Trade Reaction Episode

So long, Jesse. I’m gonna miss you.
After months and months of speculation, the Edmonton Oilers have finally pulled the trigger on a trade that sent Jesse Puljujarvi to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Patrik Puistola. While the trade is no doubt a bittersweet transaction for many Oilers fans, there’s little doubt that Puljujarvi needed a fresh start after spinning his wheels here in Edmonton a little bit. In exchange for Puljujarvi, the Oilers are getting another young Finn in Patrik Puistola who is said to have some offensive skill even though he has yet to plan an NHL game.
From an Oilers perspective, the big win in this trade is the fact that they didn’t have to retain any salary on the transaction, which essentially clears the path to make another deal ahead of Friday’s deadline. Could this be the first step in a Jakob Chychrun or Mattias Ekholm trade, as an example? What will happen with the depth on the right side of the depth chart now that the Oilers are down a man in a spot where they already lack depth.
