It’s win or go home for three teams on Monday.
The United States leads the 4 Nations Face-Off with six points from two regulation victories while Canada, Finland, and Sweden are all tied with two points. Canada and Finland each have an overtime victory and a regulation loss while Sweden has two overtime losses.
A win in regulation by either Canada or Finland would put that team up against the Americans in the Championship Game in Boston on Thursday. Sweden needs to beat the United States in regulation while also having the Canada vs. Finland game go to overtime in order to advance.

Line Combinations

Canada

We don’t have updated lines yet from head coach Jon Cooper ahead of Monday’s game between Canada and Finland. Given Canada was completely shut down in their 3-1 loss to the United States on Saturday, we might see some shuffling when it comes to the team’s lineup.
Jordan Binningson of the St. Louis Blues has started both games for Canada thus far and the 2019 Stanley Cup Champion has stopped 43 of 48 shots for a .896 save percentage. Adin Hill of the Vegas Golden Knights and Sam Montembault of the Montreal Canadiens are Canada’s other options to start in net.
Sam Reinhart – Connor McDavid – Mitch Marner
Sidney Crosby – Nathan MacKinnon – Mark Stone
Brad Marchand – Sam Bennett – Seth Jarvis
Brandon Hagel – Anthony Cirelli – Brayden Point
Devon Toews – Travis Sanheim
Josh Morrissey – Colton Parayko
Thomas Harley – Drew Doughty
Jordan Binnington
EDIT: Jon Cooper confirmed that Binnington will start for Canada.

Finland

Finland announced on Sunday that Kevin Lankinen will start this must-win game against Canada on Monday. After Juuse Saros allowed six goals to the United States earlier in the week, Finland brought in Lankinen against Sweden and he led them to an overtime victory with 21 saves on 24 shots.
The Finns have scored five goals through two games thus far and they’ve been getting contributions from all over their lineup. Aleksander Barkov and Mikko Rantanen on the top line have one goal each, third-line centre Anton Lundell buried a goal, defender Henri Jokiharju scored one, and second-line winger Mikael Granlund scored in overtime against Sweden.
Artturi Lehkonen – Aleksander Barkov – Mikko Rantanen
Roope Hintz – Sebastian Aho – Mikael Granlund
Eetu Luostarainen – Anton Lundell – Patrik Laine
Teuvo Teravainen – Erik Haula – Kaapo Kakko
Niko Mikkola – Esa Lindell
Olli Maattaa – Henri Jokiharju
Urho Vaakanainen – Nikolas Matinpalo

Tournament Format and Rules

This is an unusually short international tournament with just four teams and seven games in total. Unlike the Olympics or World Championship, which features a group stage followed by a three-round playoff format, this one is simple: Record as many points as possible in three games. The two teams with the most points after Monday’s round-robin finale will advance to Thursday’s championship game and there will not be a bronze medal bout.
The 4 Nations Face-Off will follow a more traditional international point structure rather than the NHL’s format. A regulation win will award a team three points, an overtime/shootout victory will pay two, and an overtime loss will result in one. That means a perfect 3-0-0-0 record will give a team nine points.
The NHL features five minutes of 3-on-3 overtime with a shootout if needed. At the 4 Nations Face-Off, extra time will be extended to 10 minutes, and then a shootout if needed. If overtime is required during the championship game, it will follow NHL playoff rules: 20 minutes of 5-on-5 hockey until someone scores.
