Sportsnet’s Chris Cuthbert and Craig Simpson will be heading west to broadcast the second-round series between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.
The set-to-be-electric series kicks off on Wednesday night, with Scott Oake as the reporter joining the pair.
It’s not the first time the pair have called an Oilers series in recent years. In 2022, Cuthbert and Simpson were in Alberta to call the second-round series between the Oilers and Flames, which saw Edmonton win in five games, pushing Calgary into a rebuild. During the 2020 playoff bubbles, Cuthbert was out west calling games alongside Louie DeBrusk.
Cuthbert, one of the best hockey play-by-play voices, joined Sportsnet in June 2020 after 15 years at TSN. Most notably, he was the lead play-by-play voice during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, calling Sidney Crosby’s gold medal-winning goal against the United States.
Pavelski shot, that’s saved by Luongo. Niedermayer regroups, Crosby over the line, Sidney Crosby can’t bust in, up with it again he’s on the ice with Iginla. Iginla- Crosby scores! Sidney Crosby! The golden goal! And Canada has once-in-a-lifetime Olympic gold!
