Connor McDavid has already added his second of back-to-back Art Ross Trophies to his resume, now he’ll have a chance to double down with another Ted Lindsay Award.

McDavid, along with former Oiler Taylor Hall and Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche, has been nominated for the award which is awarded annually to the National Hockey League’s most outstanding player in the regular season as judged by the members of the NHL Players Association.

Like I said before, McDavid won the award last year after his 100-point season led the Oilers to their first playoff appearance in a decade. While it’s a little more difficult to award him the Hart Trophy for league MVP because the team finished outside the playoffs, it’s very feasible the other players in the league voted McDavid as the league’s most outstanding player.

Hall and MacKinnon would both be reasonable choices too. Both damn near singlehandedly lifted two teams to playoff appearances that nobody expected. In Hall’s case, he carried the Devils on his shoulders, which is evident by the fact he had 93 points and the next highest scorer on the team had 52 points. That’s pretty impressive for a player who doesn’t know how to win, or whatever the mental gymnastics narrative was around here.
