Connor McDavid Presents JUNO Award to Nickelback

As Oilers fans, we’re used to watching Connor McDavid accept awards, not hand them out!
Tonight the opposite happened at the JUNOS as he presented Nickelback with their induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. McDavid was showered with MVP cheers as he walked out onto the stage at Rogers Place.
With the awards being hosted in Edmonton it was a welcome surprise for those in attendance to see their captain present an award to one of Canada’s legendary bands. Can’t forget to mention Connor was introduced onto the stage by Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds…
“It’s a place that reminds you of legacies and excellence, and certain players have changed the game forever” As Connor delivered that line you can hear from the crowd “Like you.”
Besides the MVP chant, Connor McDavid received plenty of love from around the arena as he said “You know how much I love playing here” reinforcing the thought that he will be an Edmonton Oiler for a very long time. And as he introduced Nickelback, he referred to them as the “Pride of Alberta” things you love to hear from Connor.
The band themselves recognized Connor McDavid as the best hockey player in the world as they accept the award.
Connor’s appearance at the JUNOS got a lot of attention. He was asked his picks for a Nickelback karaoke song. His choices were “Rockstar”, “Photograph” and his Dad’s favourite “If Today Was Your Last Day.” Before Connor’s moment on the stage, JUNOS host Simu Liu told McDavid that he’s the LeBron of hockey and pleaded he doesn’t take his talents to south beach and to stay in Edmonton forever.
Dylan Holloway was also in attendance and posted a photo on his Instagram story of Nickelback performing with the caption “Top-2 band of all time and they’re not number 2.”
