The Minnesota Wild made a big move Monday morning acquiring goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury from the Chicago Blackhawks.
According to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, the deal is for a conditional second-round pick that could escalate to a first. Now, the Minnesota Wild have reportedly flipped netminder Kaapo Kahkonen to the San Jose Sharks, Kevin Weekes reported.
Could this make Sharks netminder James Reimer shake loose?
Reimer’s amid one of his stronger seasons in the NHL posting a 1-13-6 record, a .916 save percentage and a 2.80 GAA. He has one year left on a contract paying him an AAV of $2.25-million.
At the end of the day, Ken Holland needs to get creative here. These are some significant goaltending moves and at the end of the day, he can’t sit here and watch teams pass him by.
The Oilers have some holes, without a doubt, and I dove into the possibility of Jake DeBrusk not long ago.
Reimer very well could shake loose here in Toronto. It’s a buyers market when it comes to goaltenders and while it might not be a cheap option given that demand around the league, he would be a clear upgrade over Mikko Koskinen and Mike Smith.
