A night that’s historically known for its fantastic hockey play cautious play had some fireworks of their own. And between Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong hitting the over by dropping three very deliberate F-bombs on national television, surely making the NHL happy with their decision to hire them for the all-star game, and @Leon Draisatil dropping an F-bomb of his own at @Matthew Tkachuk, fans surely had their fun to talk about.
And taking home the cake, $1-million worth, was the Pacific division who cruised to a 10-5 win over the Central division in game one, before toppling the Atlantic division 5-4 in the championship game.
McDavid and Draisaitl helped to lead the way with Connor’s four assists and Leon’s four goals and two assists.
Game 1: Pacific 10 – Central 5
The first game of the night for our boys in the Pacific saw them taking on the conference rival Central division. McDavid and Draisaitl saw themself on a line with Mark Giordano offering up a dominant shift to start things off.
Draisiatl scored the second goal for the division after he and Matthew Tkachuk combined for a nice little tic-tac-toe back. Tkachuk’s nifty little backhand gave Draisaitl a clean net to find twine. Do a little lip reading after the goal and you can see what Draisaitl thinks of Tkachuk.
Later in the second the powerhouse McDavid-Draisaitl connected on the Pacific Divisions’ fifth goal of the game. In classic fashion, McDavid found a wide-open Draisaitl who was able to blast home a one-timer.
Just a bomb too. #NHLAllStar | #LetsGoOilers
And Draisaitl was able to clean up his hattrick with a breakaway assisted by none other than McDavid, that saw him fire a quick shot over the goalie’s blocker.

The Pacific started to run away with the game late in the 2nd half, and Draisaitl flipped a nice backhand from below the red line to the @Tomas Hertl who made no mistake in getting the division their ninth goal of the game.

Game 2: Pacific 5 – Atlantic 4
With a million dollars on the line, the championship game saw more defensive action that offensive. In the first half, McDavid and Draisaitl were out with a few chances of their own but neither got themselves on the scoreboard.
But that changed in the second frame when Draisaitl fired home a beauty of a shot. Taking just as he entered the offensive zone, as soon as the puck was on his stick it was off and the Pacific made it a 3-3 game.
Both McDavid and Draisaitl found themselves in on the most important goal of them all — the game-winner. Connor to Leon was the first play before Draisaitl was able to spring Hertl all the way in for the winner.
Tomas Hertl #NHLAllStar MVP imo with the game winning goal for the Pacific Division #SJSharks
