“We’ve been overwhelmed with all the love and support from the people of Edmonton towards Joey,” he added of the response to the passing of the famed Down syndrome locker room attendant of the Oilers for 37 years and the Eskimos for 35.

The Edmonton Football Team will be hosting an online 50/50 draw to honour the late Joey Moss.
The draw, according to Postmedia’s Terry Jones, will be held on Nov. 22 — what would’ve been the 108th Grey Cup — to honour Moss and support the Winnifred Stewart Foundations Joey Moss Memorial Fund.
The foundation works to advocate for employment for people with developmental disabilities in Alberta.
“The family is overjoyed,” said nephew Adam Walker, representing the Moss family in legacy project planning. “The fact that the football team will be hosting a 50-50 draw with the proceeds going toward the Joey Moss Memorial Fund demonstrates how valuable Joey was to the organization and the importance of inclusion. We are ecstatic over this and the impact it can have towards people with disabilities.” It’s perfect, said Walker.“Wayne Gretzky had a close relationship with Joey’s mom, Sophie Moss. Wayne always wanted to help Sophie in any way he could. The only thing she asked for was to ensure Joey had a place to live after she passed.“In the 1980s Wayne set up the ‘Joey’s Home Trust’ — which provided funding towards housing.“Joey graduated from the Winnifred Stewart School and had resided in one of 11 Winnifred Stewart houses since 2007. He was the ambassador for the ‘Empties To WINN’ bottle drive program that had so many friends within the organization,” added Walker. –Postmedia
