The Edmonton Oilers made a few moves Tuesday morning.
The club activated defenceman Duncan Keith off injured reserve as he is set to return tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers.
He was injured on Feb. 9th after crashing hard into the boards of Rogers Place. Keith had been reported to miss two-to-four weeks, so a return tonight puts him right in the middle at three weeks.
The Oilers made a few other moves Tuesday, too. Brendan Perlini cleared waivers after being placed there. He and defenceman Philip Broberg have been subsequently assigned to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors.
Perlini has appeared in 20 games this year scoring four goals and five points. Broberg, meanwhile, had been recalled when Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson were promoted and he appeared in every game since. In 17 NHL games this year, he’s scored one assist but has had much more success in his 26 AHL games. There, he’s tallied two goals and 18 points.
An update on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also came this morning. Head coach Jay Woodcroft said he had returned to Edmonton and is considered “more week-to-week than he is day-to-day.”
He was injured Saturday against the Florida Panthers when forward Ryan Lomberg finished a check on him during the first period.
