Total of 14 Oilers games only available through streaming in 2026-27

If you’re an Edmonton Oilers fan who hasn’t cut the cord, still likes to fire up the receiver and scroll the guide to find Sportsnet West at 7 o’clock to watch your game… well, there’s going to be some games you miss this season.

A total of 14 of the 84 Oilers regular season games will not be aired on traditional television, almost 17 per cent of the schedule.

Rogers announced their broadcasting schedule on Wednesday with the news that their Monday Night Hockey property will be exclusive to its digital streaming app Sportsnet+. As it reads, no subscription to the app, no Monday Night Hockey game.

The Oilers have nine games on Monday nights this year:

Oct. 26: Detroit at Edmonton
Nov. 9: New York Rangers at Edmonton
Dec. 14: Edmonton at Montreal
Dec. 28: Edmonton at Washington
Jan. 11: Tampa Bay at Edmonton
Feb. 22: Ottawa at Edmonton
March 1: Edmonton at Chicago
March 15: Edmonton at Colorado
April 5: Calgary at Edmonton

“Fans who currently subscribe to Sportsnet through a TV provider can access Monday Night Hockey and more than 100 additional US team matchups by signing into Sportsnet+ with their TV provider credentials and upgrading to add this content for $12.99/month,” said Rogers in a press release. “The add-on package for TV subscribers will be available for purchase beginning on September 15.”

Meanwhile, Saturday Night Hockey, the not-so-clever renaming of Hockey Night in Canada, can be seen traditionally or through streaming. They also appear to have clinched new deals with Elliotte Friedman and Kevin Bieksa, as they will both be a part of the panel with Colby Armstrong and Ron MacLean hosting.

Couched in this news item is Sportsnet saying that 150 regional blackouts have been lifted for the upcoming season, which routinely annoys fans who want to watch out-of-market games, and premium subscribers would have access to over 550 games.

But hey, don’t forget about the Amazon games. With Rogers contracting Wednesday Night Hockey with Amazon this season, you’ll need to fire up Prime Video five times during the regular season:

Oct. 28: Calgary at Edmonton
Dec. 30: Edmonton at Boston
March 1: Edmonton at Calgary
March 31: San Jose at Edmonton
April 7: Edmonton at Winnipeg
