With the NHL suspending play for the foreseeable future as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, an Oilers fan decided to leave the team a note of appreciation in the only way they could — by attaching it to the Wayne Gretzky statue.

The message was simple, from the heart, and I could not agree more with its sentiment.

As you can see from Ryan Rishaug’s tweet above, this random hero just wanted to make sure that the team knew how much they were appreciated by the fans and how much fun we were having watching this group do their thing. Hopefully, the preventative measures that are being put in place, while extreme, will help to slow the spread of this thing and we’ll all be able to get back to watching games as quickly as possible. Dare to dream?
