Edmonton Oilers forward Kailer Yamamoto has been fined for his slewfoot on Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson.
Yamamoto, who was penalized on the play, will forfeit $3,854,17 of his salary this season.
The Oilers forward had engaged in a battle with Andersson in front of the net with the defenceman elbowing Yamamoto in the face, before he came back with a slew foot.

as dave tippett noticed last night, yamamoto was hit with a pretty egregious elbow in the face from andersson right before the slewfoot.

tippett on "frustration penalties": "you don't like undisciplined penalties but it gets real competitive. yamamoto got elbowed right in the mouth a few seconds before (his penalty). there's emotion involved in that. you want to have emotion, you want to be competitive...

Andersson, nor Yamamoto, appeared to be worse for wear from the incident.
“You don’t like undisciplined penalties but it gets real competitive,” said Edmonton Oilers head coach after the game. “Yamamoto got elbowed right in the mouth a few seconds before (his penalty).
“There’s emotion involved in that. you want to have emotion, you want to be competitive but you have to be disciplined. those are three things in the game we need to improve.”
