The Edmonton Oilers are getting some positive injury news.
Kris Knoblauch spoke to the media on Monday after practice and gave a rough timeline on the return of two injured forwards: Trent Frederic and Colton Dach. He said they are both “very close.”
“Whether it’s Thursday, Saturday, or the following game. That’s the timeline for both of them,” said Knoblauch.
Frederic has missed the last four games with an undisclosed injury after leaving in the second period against the Florida Panthers on March 19.
His game had been trending in a positive direction post-Olympics, appearing faster, while also making more puck plays. After a notoriously slow start to the season, Frederic’s scored four goals and six points in 2025-26. He signed an eight-year contract extension last off-season with a no-move clause.
Meanwhile, Colton Dach has been out of the lineup for a bit longer. He left the game against the Colorado Avalanche on March 10, re-aggravating a previous injury he’d sustained as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Dach skated on Monday at practice. He’s played two and a half games since being acquired, alongside Jason Dickinson, in exchange for Andrew Mangiapane and a first-round pick. He’s scored three goals and 10 points on the season. His last goal, however, was on November 30.
Dach would need to be activated off of long-term injured reserve.
Overall, Edmonton has been on the mend in terms of injuries.
The Oilers saw the return of Curtis Lazar to the lineup on Saturday, playing 9:09 of ice-time with one shot on goal. Lazar missed almost a month of action, going down against Ottawa on March 3.
He’s suited up for 39 games with the Oilers this season, scoring twice and putting up five points. Lazar seems to make an impact when in the lineup. The Oilers are 23-13-3 when Lazar plays.
There’s been no mention of Leon Draisaitl’s status, as he remains out for the remainder of the regular season.
The Edmonton Oilers host the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
