Both Mattias Janmark and Dmitri Samorukov have cleared waivers after being placed there Friday.
The pair were waived for the purpose of assignment to the Bakersfield Condors, so the expectation is both will be bound for southern California.
Janmark, 29, joined the Oilers on a one-year deal this offseason. He spent last season with the Vegas Golden Knights in a depth role scoring nine goals and 25 points in 67 games. He was beat out for a potential roster spot by Derek Ryan.
Samorukov, meanwhile, sneak through waivers after there was some speculation he could be picked up. The 23-year-old will now head to Bakersfield where he’ll be looked upon to be a leader on the Condors’ back end. He’s been tentatively beaten out by Philip Broberg.
It’s a good thing for the organization that Samorukov cleared waivers. While his game hasn’t quite round into form for NHL action, he’s still young and entering just his third season of professional hockey. He’ll be a recall option for the Oilers as the season progresses.

For the Oilers, Janmark clearing waivers further complicates the club’s confusing cap situation, so these next few days will be interesting to follow.
