A pair of Edmonton Oilers were ranked among the NHL’s elite on Friday morning.
2025-26 Ted Lindsay winner Connor McDavid earned a selection on the NHL’s First All-Star Team, while defenceman Evan Bouchard was named to the NHL’s Second All-Star Team.
McDavid’s sixth appearance on the First All-Star Team is the most among active centremen, and ties Jean Beliveau, Phil Esposito and Stan Mikita for the second most in NHL history. Wayne Gretzky still holds the record, having been named the NHL’s number one centre eight times.
McDavid received 118 first-place votes, which was 41 more than Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan Mackinnon, who made the Second All-Star Team.
It was a bounce-back season for the Newmarket, Ont. Native after missing out on an All-Star selection in 2024-25. He scored 48 goals and added 90 assists for a league-leading 138 points en route to his sixth consecutive 100-point campaign. Earlier this month, he won the Ted Lindsay Award for the league’s most outstanding player, as voted by the NHL Players Association. He also narrowly lost out on the Hart Trophy, coming in second to the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov.
At 29 years old, McDavid’s trophy case already contains five Ted Lindsay Awards, three Hart Trophies, six Art Ross Trophies, and one Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy and a Conn Smythe Trophy to go along with his eight NHL All-Star Selections.
Bouchard, meanwhile, earned his first selection to an NHL All-Star Team. Cale Makar and Zach Werenski made it onto the first team, while Bouchard and Rasmus Dahlin made the Second Team.
The Oakville Ont. Native hit career highs in goals (21), assists (74) and points (95) while playing 24:52 per game on the Oilers’ blueline. He played in all 82 of the team’s regular-season games for the third time in four seasons. In the playoffs, he notched six points in six games for his fourth consecutive point-per-game playoff run.
In February, McDavid represented Canada at the Olympic Games in Milan, where he led the tournament in points with 13 in six games. Despite his productive campaign, Bouchard missed out on a selection to Team Canada.
The NHL’s first and Second All-Star Teams are voted on annually by representatives from the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
