<p>Lamborghini Perlini.</p>
<p>The Oilers brought in Brendan Perlini on a one-year deal last offseason and after a tremendous pre-season that saw him score five goals and six points in five games, he made the big club out of camp.</p>
<p>He played in 23 games, but in January, the Oilers opted to waive him and send him ot the American League. In the NHL, he scored four goals and five points while averaging 8:22 per game. Simply put, the Oilers needed a body in the bottom-six that was more physical than him, and he drew the short end of the stick.</p>
<p>Despite that, there were some things to like about his game.</p>

<p>There really wasn&#8217;t much to like from an underlying numbers perspective. While he did score goals at a solid per hour clip, none of his underlying numbers jump out as being strong in any sense of the term. A PDO of 99.8 suggests this is what you&#8217;re looking at for him.</p>
<p>Where he did show some promise was in his isolated impacts.</p>
<p>While his offensive contributions were 13 percent below league average, Perlini managed to contribute defence at a nine percent rate above league average — a very solid number.</p>
<h1>Looking ahead&#8230;</h1>
<p>An RFA at the end of this season, the Oilers didn&#8217;t issue Perlini a qualifying offer and at the time of writing, is without a contract for next season. He&#8217;s a guy who I would definitley consider bringing back to the organization.</p>
<p>In Bakersfield last year, he really found his stride scoring 11 goals and 18 points in 18 games. He&#8217;d be a great playing down in the American League, and a solid callup if the Oilers need it.</p>
