On Thursday, top Edmonton Oilers prospect and Bakersfield Condors winger Quinn Hutson was selected to participate in the 2026 AHL All-Star Classic. It’s the second consecutive season the Condors have had a rookie selected, with Matthew Savoie part of last year’s special edition game.
Hutson played college hockey at Boston University, and went undrafted into the NHL. At the conclusion of last year’s NCAA season, he signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers, which took effect last season when he played two games in the NHL. He added four more appearances with the Oilers this season, scoring a game-winner against the Boston Bruins on December 18th for his first NHL goal. Earlier this week, he signed a two-year extension with the Oilers, with an AAV of $875,000.

So far in 30 games played with the Condors this season, Hutson is second in the league with 23 goals, and third in the league with 38 points. He leads Bakersfield and all rookies league-wide in both categories. He has already passed the Condors rookie goalscoring record of 19, and is approaching Seth Griffith’s franchise record for 30 goals in a season, set back in 2021-22. In December, he was named the AHL’s rookie of the month, with nine goals and 13 points in eight games. Given his strong production in the minors this year, he has a good chance of making more regular appearances with the Oilers next season.
At age 24, Quinn is the oldest of the four Hutson brothers, including 2025 Calder Trophy winner Lane Hutson of the Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals prospect Cole Hutson, and 17-year-old Lars Hutson. All except Lars are alumni of Boston University. Quinn Hutson played three seasons at BU, racking up 56 goals and 114 points in 117 games.
The AHL All-Star Classic is set for February 10th and 11th from Rockford, Illinois. Hutson, a native of North Barrington, Illinois, will compete alongside the Pacific Division. He’s the fourth rookie the Condors have sent to the All-Star Classic, including Savoie, Evan Bouchard (2020), and Cooper Marody (2019). Overall, the Condors have had 12 players take part in the All-Star Classic over the last decade.
