Edmonton Oilers prospect Kirill Maksimov scored his first goal in the KHL today.
The 21-year-old now has two points in nine KHL games with CSKA Moskova having spent some time in the league’s second division, the VHL.
In the VHL, he’s been playing for Zvezda Moskova where he’s scored four goals and six points in five games.
His goal today was a thing of beauty. A teammate took a shot on net from the point and Maksimov crashed the net dancing around the crease. As a rebound popped out, Maksimov was there to tuck the puck past a sprawling netminder.
Maksimov played last season for the Bakersfield Condors, his first pro campaign, where he scored five goals and 13 points in 53 games. He’ll be back in Bakersfield next year where he’ll be expected to take a step forward in his game.
