The @Edmonton Oilers have recalled centre @Colby Cave from the @Bakersfield Condors, while defenceman @William Lagesson has been assigned to the AHL.
The move to recall Cave is likely due to centreman @Riley Sheahan being banged up during the Oilers’ last game against the @Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night. Sheahan left that game after taking a hard hit from Pierre-Luc Dubois and was ruled out with an “upper-body injury.” Cave’s recall comes ahead of Saturday’s game against the @Pittsburgh Penguins, and will likely slide onto the fourth line between @Patrick Russell and @Markus Granlund.
The irony here is that Cave was initially assigned to the AHL after being placed on waivers on October 13th, when Sheahan was activated off of the Injured Reserve after recovering from an early-season injury. In six games with the Condors, Cave has produced three assists and no goals. In his two games played with the Oilers, he produced zero points, was a -2, but was 57.1% in the face circle, a skill that will be needed as the team will be without Sheahan’s 52.5% success on the dot.
Lagesson was recalled on October 17th, but never suited up for the Oilers.
