<p>The Oilers opened the scoring one minute into the first period when Ryan McLeod wired a shot past rookie goaltender Magnus Chrona. McLeod picked up his first goal of the season at the end of November and now has six goals over his last 11 games.</p>

<p>Later in the first period, the Oilers popped off for three goals within a span of just over seven minutes to run away with the game. The first of those three goals came from Zach Hyman off of a nice pass from Connor McDavid. The goal was Hyman&#8217;s 20th of the season, putting him on pace to score 51 goals over 82 games.</p>

<p>With just a couple of minutes left in the first frame, Leon Draisaitl added another goal to Edmonton&#8217;s lead to make the score 4-0. Warren Foegele won a puck battle on the forecheck and sent it out front for Draisaitl, who buried his 15th goal of the season.</p>
