a uh… less than ideal sequence here for the oilers, as evander kane takes out connor mcdavid, then the flyers go down the ice and score. mcdavid was shaken up, but didn’t miss a shift.

The Edmonton Oilers are back in the loss column.
Following a commanding victory over the Nashville Predators for their first win of the season earlier this week, the Oilers came out with a lacklustre effort against the Philadelphia Flyers and lost by a score of 4-1. Below are the highlights from the game.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

Joel Farabee opened the scoring for the Flyers late in the first period with his second goal of the season. The Oilers broke the puck out of the zone but failed to get it deep into Philly’s zone and they came back up ice and scored. This was some pretty effortless work from Edmonton’s forwards, both in the neutral zone and on the backcheck.
Cam Atkinson extended Philadelphia’s lead to 2-0 early in the second frame. Evan Bouchard mishandled the puck just inside Edmonton’s blueline, Owen Tippett stole it and threw a back-hander on the net, and Atkinson was there on the doorstep to deflect it last Jack Campbell.
Zach Hyman put the Oilers on the board with just under five minutes to go in the second period. The puck made its way from the point to Hyman in the slot and he waited out goaltender Carter Hart before roofing a back-hander over his blocker.

The Oilers had an excellent chance to tie the game shortly after Hyman’s goal as Atkinson went to the penalty box for tripping. While on the power play, Connor McDavid turned the puck over in the offensive zone and Sean Walker roofed a shot over Campbell to restore Philly’s two-goal lead.

The Flyers scored a few minutes into the third period to put the game out of reach. Atkinson snuck behind Edmonton’s defenders, got sprung on a breakaway, and deked out Campbell to make the score 4-1 for Philadelphia.
