GDB -3.0: Oilers hit the road for pre-season game against Jets (6pm MT, Oilers+)

We’ve got a loaded week of pre-season hockey.
The Edmonton Oilers will hit the road to face the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, and then the team will host the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday. The Jets and Vancouver Canucks will also be in town for games on Friday and Sunday.
The Oilers made a couple of cuts following their split-squad games with the Calgary Flames on Sunday, sending Tommy Lafrenière and David Lewandowski to their Western Hockey League clubs. With the regular season just over two weeks away, we can expect the roster to be trimmed down some more in the coming days.
“I think we’ve got a lot of difficult decisions coming up,” head coach Kris Knoblauch said following the team’s morning skate on Tuesday. “We’re early on in the pre-season schedule right now, and it usually plays out and you get a better feel because usually one guy or somebody that you’re not expecting very much out of has a really strong game.“But you want to see that over several games rather than just making that rash decision because things are going to get a little more difficult, things are getting a little faster, and then we’ll see if they’re ready for the regular season.”
The group headed to Winnipeg on Tuesday will be going up against a Jets team led by three-time Stanley Cup winner Jonathan Toews. After not playing the past few seasons, the former Blackhawk inked a one-year deal with his hometown club back in June.

GAME DAY PREDICTION: The Oilers are exhausted from the long bus ride to Winnipeg and fall to the Jets by a score of 3-2.
OBVIOUS GAME DAY PREDICTION: Jonathan Toews picks up a point playing in his first game with his hometown club.
NOT-SO-OBVIOUS GAME DAY PREDICTION: With the lineup still TBA, I’ll take a random stab as to who we’re going to see bury a goal for the visiting team. Let’s go with former Oil King Curtis Lazar. Now that we have a lineup, let’s go with a power play goal from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
